Books on Japanese/Japan

Books on Japanese/Japan. Pigma micron pen and watercolor pencils on Aquarelle Arches watercolor block.

A small section of my bookshelves is devoted to books on Japanese and Japan. I'm no longer studying the language, but I can't seem to get rid of them.

Mt. Roberts Tramway, Juneau, Alaska

Mt. Roberts Tramway, Juneau, Alaska. Winsor & Newton watercolors on Aquarelle Arches cold pressed paper.

When I took a photo of the tramway, I thought it would be interesting to draw.  Now nearly four years later, I finally got around to doing it.

Sketchbook: Video camera

Video camera. Winsor & Newton Watercolors in Moleskine watercolor sketchbook.

We have a few of these old cameras lying about since my husband was trying to find one still in working condition so he could upload videos from his high school and college days to the web.

Blooming Outside My Window

Blooming Outside My Window.  Pigma micron pen and Prismacolor watercolor pencils.

Just a couple of weeks ago, these flowers were blooming outside my window. I think they are hibiscus, but I'm not quite sure. Now they've dried out and shriveled up. Fall is here.

Old Mission Point Lighthouse

Old Mission Point Lighthouse. Pigma Micron pen and Prismacolor Verithin pencils on cardstock.

I've yet to replace my camera that was lost in Paris, so I again looked at my sister's photos of this latest trip for drawing inspiration. We visited this lighthouse at the tip of Old Mission Peninsula on a very windy and unseasonably cool day.

Grand Traverse Bay

Pigma micron pen and watercolor pencil in Moleskine watercolor sketchbook.

I recently returned from vacationing in northern Michigan. On this particular day, it was too cool and windy to take the boats out on the bay, so I drew them instead.

Sketchbook: House 4

House 4. Pigma micron pen and Winsor & Newton watercolors in Moleskine watercolor sketchbook.

I drew this back in March, but didn't scan it until today. Every now and then, I go through long periods without drawing and I'm just coming out of one of those.

The Sketchbook Project 2012: Cover

The Sketchbook Project 2012: Opposite Day. Cover. Pigma micron pen.

I actually completed this project a month ago, and it was mailed to Art House Co-op in time for the deadline. Look for it on the tour, if you have a chance.
