Sketchbook: Headphones
Headphones. Pigma Micron 02 pen in sketchbook. Copyright 2010.
Audio books are my companion when I sketch. I just finished Jane Smiley's Private Life. It was a book I might have had difficulty reading, but I found myself drawn into it and looked forward to listening to it each time I sat down with my sketchbook.

Sketchbook: Egg Carton
Egg Carton. Pen and ink and colored pencil in sketchbook. Copyright 2010.
Packaging can be deceiving. This carton actually held light blue and brown eggs from a local farm. Next time, I'll have to draw the eggs before eating them all.

Bananas and Cherry Tomatoes
Bananas and Cherry Tomatoes. Prismacolor Verithin Pencils on Strathmore Bristol Vellum. Copyright 2010.
These looked so pretty sitting together on my kitchen counter, so I had to draw them.
Update: Prints of this artwork are now available through my Society6 store.

Illustration Friday: Paisley
Paisley. Colored pencil and pen and ink on Strathmore Bristol paper. Copyright 2010.
I remember watching a movie as a child in which Santa's elves painted the chess and checker boards with checkered paint, so I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to have paint that came in Paisley?"
